Are Online Boutiques Lucrative

Bonjour fashion friends,

I hope you all are doing well, and are preparing for a great holiday season with family and love ones.

I have been wanting to write a blog post on online boutiques for quite sometime. With the rise of the digital age era, and everyone wanting to be a “boss”, everyone is starting an online boutique. I really think so many people are starting online boutiques, not for their passion for fashion, or any proper education in the fashion industry, but simply because it’s an easy market to enter into. All one has to have is a business license, and vendors will allow you to conduct business with them.

Before starting a boutique it’s important to know that boutiques are specialty retailers. Boutiques provide items that cannot be found in many of your mainstream stores. Boutiques are not just for clothing stores. Boutiques can be specialty candle stores, custom jewelry stores, and boutiques can also be service based businesses.

The online boutique (clothing sector) is overly populated, and has become a fast way for people to start a business, and make money. I must make this clear, not everyone with an online boutique is making a whole lot of money. When you are in an industry where there are so many people doing the same thing, and selling the same thing, you must do something that will set you apart from the “norm”.

Prospective and current boutique owners must asses their marketing strategy by studying what their competition is doing. Not only are you competing with other online boutique owners, but you’re also competing against the major online retailer Amazon.

Assess what you are selling to the consumer, and determine how it will add value to the life of your customer. Once these objectives are accomplished; along with determining a price point for your products and services that brings in a return on investment, you will have yourself a lucrative business.
